  • Experience working as a Carer, but this is not essential as full training will be provided.

The roles and responsibilities of a
HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT

 

Carers are responsible for looking after people who need help due to disability, illness or frailty. They work with both young and old people meeting various needs in their day to day life. These workers help with shopping, making meals, laundry, dressing, cleaning, washing, and other duties.

 

  • Assisting with personal care.

  • Helping with washing and dressing.

  • Overseeing medications.

  • Supporting daily routines.

  • Promoting independence.

  • Respecting a service users dignity at all times. 

 

 

 

 



 

The roles and responsibilities of a  
SUPPORT WORKER 

 

This is a very different role all together from working as a Healthcare Assistant.

 

A support worker is someone who looks after the well-being of vulnerable people within the community.  They Assist a service user to live their lives as independently as possible within their own home and support them in reaching their potential, through both practical and emotional support.

 

  • Helping to wash and dress if required.

  • Shopping and meal preparation.

  • Helping access the community (sometimes via public transport).

  • Supporting daily routines.

  • Socialising and leisure activities.

  • Attending medical appointments.

BEFRIENDING SERVICE 

 

Your duties could include the following:

  • Shopping and meal preparation.

  • Helping access the community (sometimes via public transport).

  • Supporting daily routines.

  • Socialising and leisure activities.

  • Attending medical appointments.

  • Companionship.

  • Dog walking.
